Our final 2009 class rankings are being revealed starting May 11. Releasing one team a day leading up to our #1 ranking and the signing day finale on May 20.

Head Coach Paul Hewitt has once again proven himself as one of the top recruiters in all of college basketball. This class will add star power and quality depth, especially in the front court. Since the 03-04 season where the Yellow Jackets made it to the promised land only to lose the code to unlock the gate. Since that time the team has been slowly rebuilding momentum leading up to this point. This highly heralded 6 man class could take them back to the hollowed grounds of the final four once again. The improved play of Keith Gallon was set to push the Oklahoma Sooners ahead of the Yellow Jackets in our final rankings. However the last minute signing of Daniel Miller was enough to solidify this squad at number five.

Derrick Favors- This kid is among a handful of players that was vying for the top spot in the 09' class. Is an inside out big man with exceptional footwork, timing, hands and range. This kid is a physical player that fully understands the games nuances, probably the most polished post player in the 09' class. Favors is an elite scorer and rebounder averaged 23.7 points, 17.1 rebounds and 9.5 blocks as a junior and 27.5 ppg and 13.3 rpg as a senior. Was a 2009 Jordan Brand All-American, 2009 Mr. Basketball in Georgia and the 2009 Gatorade Player of the Year in Georgia. Favors averaged 27.5 ppg and 13.3 rpg as a senior. Photo.

High School: South Atlanta High

Weight: 220
Rivals.com Rank: #3, #1 C
Scout.com Rank: #1, #1 C
ESPN.com Rank: #2, #1 PF, scouts grade 98
Spin: This kid is super talented, however we like Rivals rank best.

Mfon Udofia- This kid is your ideal point guard. Has elite size, speed, quickness and court vision. Udofia's south paw style will compliment Favors nicely. He pushes the ball well in transition, but knows when to pull it back out. This kid is heady and can get to the rack with relative ease. A leader on the court and doesn't mind being vocal. Should be able to shoulder some of the scoring load. Had a few streaky spells in high school, but should even out rather quickly. Photo.

High School: Miller Grove High

Position: PG
Height: 6'2
Weight: 175
Rivals.com Rank: #32, #6 PG

ESPN.com Rank: #48, #7 PG, scouts grade 93
Spin: We like him somewhere in the middle, We'll take Scouts rank.

Glen Rice Jr.- Mr.Rice brings length and athleticism to the table. Can play either the two guard or the small forward and will provide immediate depth for the Yellow Jackets. Rice is a jack of all trades and a master of none. Rice is the son of former NBA player Glen Rice which helps explains this kids instincts, however he needs to shoot a bunch of jumpers to even be half the shooter his father was. Photo.

High School: George Walton Comprehensive H. S.
Hometown: Marietta, GA
Position: SG/SF
Height: 6'4
Weight: 180
Rivals.com Rank: #45, #13 SG
Scout.com Rank: #140-160* #31 SG, 3 star
ESPN.com Rank: NR, #35 SG, scouts grade 89
Spin: This kid has the pedigree, but we like scouts rank best.

Kammeon Holsey- This young man is built like current Kentucky Wildcat Perry Stevenson. A long lanky athlete with a few signature moves. Holsey has great timing and jumps fast, will be a great shot blocker. This kid has some springs, should be able to create easy offense with put backs. Can pass the ball well enough. Holsey has a decent shot in the paint but outside of 10 feet his shot becomes inconsistent. Holsey should be a solid role player early on in his career, with the occasional signature game.

Weight: 195
Rivals.com Rank: #82, #23 PF
Scout.com Rank: #89 ,#30 PF
ESPN.com Rank: #63, #18 PF, scouts grade 92
Spin: Could be great, but we like Scouts rank best.

Daniel Miller- A true post in every sense of the word. This kid has quality size, hands and timing and should be a sturdy and reliable player from the seasons onset. Was committed to the University of Georgia but de-committed only to commit to Tech less than 24 hours later. We saw this kid block 11 shots in one game. has good coordination for a kid his size goes up and gets the ball, makes up for lack of athleticism with a polished skill set and his hard work mentality. Miller is widely considered a 3 star prospect but will be solid on the D-1 level.

ESPN.com Rank: #98, #11C, scouts grade 91
Spin: This kids game is a perfect fit for college, we like ESPN

Brian Oliver- This young man will be a great role player and glue guy. Oliver is not the best athlete and certainly isn't the most talented player in this class. But Oliver brings a great work ethic and approach to the game that is sure to rub off on his teammates. Oliver has a decent stroke and should develop into a consistent threat from 3 at the division one level. Photo.
