Woods failed to make the team his freshman season. This resilient young man worked hard over the next 12 months. He was successful his sophomore season, becoming a cornerstone of the J.V. team and playing some varsity minutes. That is saying a lot for a kids first year of high school ball at a traditional power.
Woods is a stellar defender. His long arms,lanky frame and good sense of timing are ideal for blocking and altering shots. His post defense is above average as well and should improve even more as he adds strength. Offensively, his game is still a couple of signature post moves away from being dangerous; although he makes the best of offensive rebounds and his ability to the floor. He can score well enough to keep defenses honest. He is set to start this season and he should do well. Overall, Woods carries himself well, has a nice demeanor and is very coachable.
